I believe I've seen it in ice asteroids waay before the most recent update and thought that it didn't make a whole lot of sense, but I didn't think to report it. Who knows, maybe there are space mammoths.

I did manage to see my spaceport activate a hyperdeny field when it attacked a smuggling ship, so I guess that is working appropriately.

Yes it is with Shadows.

It also seems that alcoholism runs rampant in the upper echelons of my military. I had a game where every single admiral and general were drunks.

You pretty much mentioned all the good ones. The only three I would add would be the RTS games Dawn of War 1 and 2 and Star Wars: Empire at War. I love anything Warhammer 40k, and Empire at War had a galactic conquest mode that, in my opinion, had a 4x feel to it.
