RE: Bridge Building

<t> Hmm, I think it has to do with the fact I play the Warpac all the time and not NATO so there is less reason for the NATO AI to build bridges that only make it easier for me to seize and cross over. Still, I have played this game for a long time and only now have seen the NATO AI do this. The ...

Bridge Building

With the expansion/update, can computer opponents now build bridges? I could swear that computer units were doing so in the campaign I'm playing when they certainly couldn't before. If so, does that also mean they can blow up bridges now too??

RE: Waypoint inefficiency

<r> I've attached an example. I've circled in light blue the unit receiving a hasty command to the number 1 waypoint. As you can see, it's about the least efficient way to get there since the game has decided to skip the most direct road and go around through forests and then through more forests ...

Waypoint inefficiency

<t> I'm not sure if it's the recent patch or with the new Reforger expansion, but I've noticed that the game's logic in calculating the most efficient path for movement when setting waypoints is way off now than in previous versions. For example if I try to set a waypoint to a far away location ...

SAM effectiveness

<t> Sorry if this has been asked already, but I am hoping someone can explain general effectiveness of shoulder-launched SAMs vs air targets. In game, it seems it takes a lot of SAM launches to hit and take down a helo. I know that many different factors are involved, but was hitting and taking down ...

This may be an exxageration about the language barrier in soviet army. It happened in ww2 i ve heard a bout it a couple of times but those were hastily conscripted units, kinda last resort situation and it would be impossible in the units ...

RE: Helicopters in FPC

<t> Another thing to keep in mind is that the Soviet Army is made up various different republics and ethnic groups. Some of them are not going to be all that keen to fight in the first place. There is also a language problem in that many of the conscripts are not necessarily Russian or have a ...

RE: Music/sound Bug

<t> Still having the bug with 2.04. However, this may help. When I go into the FX menu while in game and turn on music, I go to another tab and click on FX tab again to make sure "Play music" checkbox stays checked. It does. However after a game finishes, I still only get like 5 seconds of the ...

RE: NATO's limited airdefence

<t> Well that certainly answers my question about inadequacy of NATO/US air defense in the helo thread. Basically, it's a list of numerous reasons from money concerns to bureaucratic politics. If NATO didn't really consider Soviet helos as a huge concern until Afghanistan, that would be really ...

RE: Helicopters in FPC

<t> Why exactly was NATO weak in the air defense department? It seems to be an odd and rather critical weakness for any modern army especially if their stated opponent is another well-equipped modern army. Did NATO just presume they would have air supremacy and therefore it was not seen as necessary ...

RE: Sudden Death Ending Suggestions

<t> Not so much a suggestion as a question . . . In the Soviet campaign, I constantly have a situation in which I have decimated the NATO side and reduced their forces to below 30% of their initial force while maintaining my own force above 80%. In this kind of situation in which SD is triggered ...

RE: Helos and scenario balance

<t> The lowest level the Soviets generally worked with were companies. Entire companies would work as one, towards single objectives rather than the more "flexible" NATO practice of using smaller formations. Another thing to consider was the Soviet use of at least two echelons at operational and ...

RE: A few questions about helos

<t> OK, I was just wondering. The only thing I could come up with, other than bugs, was the dev team modeling a practice that some Hind pilots practiced in Afghanistan. Instead of using the squad compartment for troops, they would use that extra space to carry more ammo. After firing off all their ...

A few questions about helos

<t> I have two questions about helos and supply so if anyone can answer them let me thank you in advance:<br/>

1) I am playing a scenario in which I actually have Hinds as assets. Flying a pair from my initial starting line to about the middle of the battlefield required the helos to go into ...

<r> Easy enough to confirm. Does anyone have a copy or access to Jane's IDR from July 2007? I don't so I can't personally make sure the article is totally accurate word for word.
