RE: Naval Mod ready for testing

<t> Started a new Entente game to check out the mod, noticed there are some land units not present in the base 1914 scenario (an ANZAC division in Oxford, heavy artillery and light artillery brigades nearby, and Plumer's HQ). There's also at least three zeppelins on Central Powers' side.<br/>

RE: I give up

<t> There are some interface issues, especially regarding unit recruitment. It can be hard to organize forces, and many of us who play this game a lot seem to wind up using some sort of pen and paper solution. Personally, I use an Open Office spreadsheet. Understandably that's not everyone's style ...

RE: Blockade

Depends on who or what you are playing against. The AI has a tendency to Hulk-smash small coastal garrisons, especially on harder settings. So they may be easily taken, but might be harder to hold.

Both are valid strategies, which is the mark of a good game.

I have noticed one thing: I usually reduce the number of squadrons in the blockade boxes at the beginning (using them for brown-water), but the percentage doesn't seem to dip. And, I also don't add more ships, but over time the percentage ...

<t> And if you're having problems with forts sinking ships, try a couple things.<br/>

-Make sure your fleets are in green/green stance when running forts. Once they're past the forts and where you want them, put them in blue/blue or blue/orange.<br/>

RE: Blockade

<r> There are two ways to blockade: blue water and brown water.<br/>
<br/>
For blue water, you're going to want to put blockade squadrons (the ship unit with eight ships in it) in both the Atlantic and Gulf Blockade boxes. Once you reach 40% blockade, which is about 5 full squadrons in each ...

So, noone in favor of displaying it for the enemy side?

I guess I'm not being clear. I like it, but there should be a way for the player to toggle the display on/off for his side.

Yes. I think it would be better have an option to switch viewing modes however, with the old way being default.

I think its helpful in some ways, and not so much in others. Would it be possible to have some sort of shift function to show your stacks' individual powers?

RE: Any Generals *improve* with rank? / Aide de Camp

I don't know if any generals improve their stragetic-attack-defense stats with rank, but a few do lose negative abilities while picking up good ones. For example, Sherman loses Poor Spy Network and gains Military Genius when he is promoted.

RE: aide-de-camp... rules state a general with strategic rating of 4 can serve as an aide-de-camp in an army HQ. Does the aide also need to be a three-star general? Or can any general do?

Any general will do.

<r> Separate tabs/stacks won't be part of the same army until you can attach them as corps. Creating a corps requires a general to be at 2 or 3 stars within range of an army stack. To simulate command and control problems early in the war, you cannot create corps until March 1862. Separate stacks <I ...

RE: Newbie Question -- Force Size

Remember the game engine doesn't actually use the number of troops. The stack's Power, which is determined by the number and type of elements, is what is actually important and is influenced by things like command points, leader stats, supply, terrain, weather, frontage, etc.
