Re: Modding Build units issue

I have tested the Russian unit builds against the AI for six turns and find that everything is now working normally.

Re: Upgrades gripe again - esp the Tigers

Thanks, Joel. I was the Soviet opponent with the idle JS-2 tanks. They did look good on the showroom floor, though. Anyway, it occurred to me independently that I had not built out all of my heavy tank regiments. That was just a guess as I was trying to figure out how to get them involved. Your post ...

Re: Return of Soviet motorized divisions

About four turns ago, I did transfer some divisions from the Far East Box. I wasn't paying close attention to the kind of infantry divisions I selected. I think you may have the explanation. Now that they are on the map, will their TOEs change or remain static? Thanks for the answer.

Return of Soviet motorized divisions

I am playing the "no early end" campaign game in WITE2. The turn is January 16, 1944. I am playing the Soviets. I just received as reinforcements this turn two Soviet motorized divisions with the 1941TOE. Was this intended? I don't mind the gift of two motorized infantry divisions, but it does seem ...

Re: What to do as Axis in 43 - withdraw to a short line (gamey)?

But if the Axis withdraws in 1942 to a defensible line somewhere to the west to avoid being overextended, doesn't that hand the Soviets bonus points for the early recapture of victory locations? Besides that, I think the Axis needs to trade space for time. I am not sure how well the Axis would do ...

Re: What to do as Axis in 43 - withdraw to a short line (gamey)?

I think you're on to something here. I suggest withdrawing to defensible terrain in Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland to await the Soviet counteroffensive. You could also shift almost all of your air force and panzer divisions to Western Europe, where you will need them more. By the time the ...

Re: Soviet Airborne Corps

Thanks, Trey, for the explanation. I was hoping I could create a corps of Red Army supermen to take on particularly difficult missions.

Re: Soviet Airborne Corps

Replying to my own post, it may be possible that in the campaign game I was trying to combine airborne divisions which were scheduled to withdraw or be transferred to another TB. I will try again later in the game--my opponent and I are just starting a new '41 campaign.

Soviet Airborne Corps

In the Western Ukraine '43-'44 scenario, on the 1st turn, the Soviet 33rd Guards Airborne Corps is located at hex 229, 182. Having noticed this, I tried to create an Airborne Corps in a '41 campaign game I was recently playing. The game would not let me. Was there such a unit as a Soviet Airborne ...

Re: Since early 44 my PBEM has turned silly -----

Thanks, Joel, for reviewing our game. It certainly has been challenging and fun. For the Russians, it's now a race against time and I hope I have worn down the Germans enough that it will be difficult to hold me back. We will see. What's great about playing one through to the end, however it ...

I confess to not knowing how to take a screen shot. Once I figure it out, I will take shots of the loss screens.

Re: Since early 44 my PBEM has turned silly -----

One attack-one result. Anything else would be dishonest. The odds of killing a leader in a displacement movement is fairly high, if I recall. Maybe as high as 50%.

Re: Since early 44 my PBEM has turned silly -----

I am the Russian opponent. I like the last post because it focuses in my strategy, which may or may not be well-advised (this is my first campaign game to the end). My thought was to wear down the Axis with attrition and then, when Axis manpower becomes critically low, break through the crust and ...

I am the Russian player. I did not choose where to put the arriving Polish 1st Army. It appeared in Leningrad, which is not a National Supply Source.

Well, let's see what happens. If the fort falls, the defenders will have a special place in the Gulag for slowing my offensive to a virtual stop. Thanks Morvael for explaining things.

RE: Level 4 forts and no retreat?

<t> In my latest attack on the offending level 4 fortification in Drama on the Danube, I achieved odds of 29.48 to 1. I finally reduced the fortification level from 4.02 to 3.78. I expected a retreat, at last. However, the stalwart defenders did not retreat, leaving me to wonder what in the rules I ...

RE: Level 4 forts and no retreat?

<t> I am Cavalry Corps' Russian opponent in "Drama on the Danube" and I am the one struggling with a level 4 fortification. I suspected that the fact there was no retreat after successful combat (9 to 1) meant the rules had changed for level 4 forts, but I couldn't find it. Thank you all for the ...

RE: Drama on the Danube - no reinforcements arriving

I was Cavalry Corp's opponent. I can attest that, after experimenting with a test game, the Germans were not getting any scheduled reinforcements. It has the look of a very good scenario if this one imperfection can be solved.
