Re: Warspite at Pearl on Dec 7th?!?!

Yes it was mentioned the book but it didn't go into the engineering that would be required since the British rejected the offer.

Re: Warspite at Pearl on Dec 7th?!?!

Warspite was in Washington having an overhaul. She couldn't have returned to service or left Washington since she was having her 15" guns replaced. The US offered to install 16" guns but the RN refused. Britian had to ship new guns to the US. Because of this Warspite had a delay returning to ...

Re: Supply by air altitude

Real WWII combat static line jumps, including airborne supply drops, are usually conducted at 1000-2000 feet and could go as low as 500 feet. This was to stop dispersal and minimal exposure to enemy ground fire. 500 foot drops were just enough height for a chute to deploy and slow the decent. 500 ...

Re: So, the very hard AI is cheating, right?

In a way yes. The very hard setting makes it harder to defeat the AI units and it makes it easier for the AI units to defeat the players units. Also on very hard the AI units won't run out of supplies.

Re: Likelihood and Value of a Sale?

In the past it has. This past year it was on sale during the summer and it was last Christmas. I purchased WiP:AE, War in the East for my son last Christmas for about $20 US each.

Re: Night Intruder ECM question

I think it depends on the range to the target as to how much time the Night Intruder will patrol. In past versions I thought that there was a patrol option but I may be confusing this to day light fighter sweeps.

Carriers can exceed maximum aircraft and still fly ops. I'm not to sure on the exact percentage but I will not go over 10% over maximum.

Re: Escort missions at night

So called Night Intruders, that were hunting enemy night fighters, especially in Europe:

The RAF intruders would also fly in the bomber stream providing a kind of an escort. But your right, the most effective ...

Re: Destoying fortifications

I think they did an injustice to us players with the fort(s) terminology. What I interpret them to mean are forts at bases are permanent structures like pill boxes, dragons teeth, concrete encasements for guns etc. I think of the forts with the units as sandbag defensive positions like the fire ...

Yes, if it's set to 60 then they won't recon anything with a damage level of 60% or more.

Re: Restricted Units

As mentioned , it costs political points for units to be reassigned to other HQs. What I do is reassign an unrestricted HQ to the command that the units you want to release are attached to. That way you can attach the units to the newly attached HQ. Doing this in the long run saves you political ...

Should it be a house rule that you cannot combine American and British carriers into one fleet? This was the hardest thing I faced in PBEM. All American and British carriers in one fleet sitting at Christmas Island avoiding all air ranges and picking off fleets in the DEI. Should this be a rule ...

Re: best practices for TF escorts

Yes. You may have to form several small TF's off the original TF to get the numbering sequences you want. After you have the sequences you want then just transfer the ships into the new TF's.

Re: Bizarre combat results

Realistically these events would be possible. The forces you talk about were small, at anchor, and attached to merchant class shipping., in other words pinned and unable to respond appropriately. While I don't think that what you are describing would have happened at Midway I do think it would have ...
