How to mod the private economy?

Is there a way to decompile and change the game, if so how?
Especially i want to mess around with the private economy and make it more realistic.

[1.0.2.2] Freighters wont transport caslon

The freighters wont transport Caslon to my home planet.
The fuel ships wont neither...
They just stand there and do nothing, even if the home colony has 0 Caslon and there are tons of stations with Caslon.
The mission is alo set to nothing...
The Freighters themselves have enough fuel...

i have maybe understand if any have write, engines need fuel ... so energy collector dont work with engines ..
but the idea that energy collector only is for static "energy usage" is strange ...
shild recharge is over "normal" energy imho .... and weapons like beam weapons should work too with ...

In the original game pirates would charge higher prices the bigger your economy. ...
Hopefully they develop pirates like in the original game. The game is still being developed


Yea, played also the original... pirates where quite more balanced there...
Not so sure if the price of protection was ...

Pirates seems quite broken...

I made a game where i set pirates to full power at game start and did not make peace at all (except to one).

They attacked few ships and stations but did nearly destroy anything even if there where tons of pirate ships around.

Mainly they where busy raiding the colony which they nearly got ...

did you really had a shortage of anything?
I made an experiment and reduced all mining engines output by 80%.
The changes where displayed right, still i never had one resource shortcoming even if building all the time in all spaceports and colonies...

isnt it that energy collectors wont work if not close to a sun?
If so no wonder why fuel was burned during hyper drive...

Also if tried manually it says not enough resources.

Instead of not building construction ships should consider if there are other stations that have enough resources.

I received two space ports in my home system (without me having a colony). But i could never build ships there, since they where never supplied with necro stones and few other resources.

Resources have no impact since far to abundant.
Since i wanted that resources have some meaning I made a custom game with reducing mining rate of all mining engines to 20%

Still i never ever encountered one resource shortcoming and i build with all stations and planets that i had all the time.

I edited the ComponentDefinitions, but the changes showed only up after starting two times from new.
The changes don't show up in saved games.
Is it possible to change the components also for saved games? If so how?

Looks like they did a fairly robust overhaul of the diplomacy and negotiation options and will need some balance passes.


Actually trading was also quite broken in DW1. Not only you could make tons and tons of money trading secret locations, you can also get money for declaring war or making ...

Yea can confirm, one fuel tanker which was in the fleet supplied all but one ship in the fleet with fuel and then jumped away to fuel some thing else. Could need some optimization...

thx for the explanation. Maybe a tool tip in the diplomacy screen about what a restricted / limited / free trade agreement means would be great. Something like tariff % and which resources are traded (critical / not critical).

Isn't trading secret locations too overpowered?

For trading the same secret location worth 70K i could make an non aggression pact for no cost with all pirates.
Since the location is super far away from them the location is worthless to them.

The same location was worth 400k for other empires which made them all super happy.
So for nearly zero ...
