Didn't most of the Allied AFs use ferry pilots for long-range transfers behind the lines instead of combat pilots? Perhaps that contributed to the high loss rates - inexperience?

The only drawback to the current setup is that you can't capture Marcus to eliminate the Japanese base.

<t>I seem to recall from the old PacWar list, too, that new RC's are created from ships in the pool. This means that if you have 5 20+ groups in the "home port", and none in the pool, you'll only have 5 RC's. If you send all but one of the ships per group to the pool, though, it'll create as many RC ...

I've seen it all over. I had a P-38 squadron stand up in San Fran and it never grew beyond 4 - even though the pool had over 300 planes in it.

I finally changed it to another aircraft and then back after it grew to full strength.

Marcus Island unattackable?

Has anyone been able to set Marcus Island as a Allied TF destination?

I can set it as a air target, but I can't send my bombardment force/CV TF there. Wierd glitch, or real bug?

Right then...intentional. A heads-up in the readme might have been nice, however.

An interesting design decision, too, since one can infer reasonably that if the force is retreating it's hard-pressed and those fishing boats would be easy to damage with ground fire.

See the other thread on this topic :) No more airgroups were added to the game in terms of the total number; the single CVE's w/airgroups took slots from land-based airgroups thereby reducing their numbers.
