Expense.

Where the US settled on Essex as a standard design, the limited Japanese economy could only produce a limited number of a far more limited ship.

Don't go toe to toe with an industrial behemoth.

Why are you keeping the division divided? Are there fragments elsewhere?

The regiments will be ground down faster than the combined parent.

Sad day indeed. So many characters we wait for every day will no longer be there when we log in. As always, luck never lasts forever for the ships of the IJN.

RE: n01487477 Vs. Nemo121

Why so many regiments still? They are far more vulnerable than when formed up into their parent division.

There is ~600 AV in Darwin that is far less resilient than it should be.

RE: Kitakami and Oi: How effective?

Like a lot of Japanese planning, I am sure that given the right circumstances they could have had a deadly effect.

The only problem is that those right circumstances were so unlikely to come about, that the ships become white elephants.

RE: What is this?

It's convergent evolution - big radial engine, bubble canopies and lots of large calibre weapons in the wings lead to similar looking aircraft, although i think a Thud sitting next to it would be a good deal bigger.

Interesting about the fuel - did the SRA fields suffer much damage when you took them or is it your industry sucking it dry?

RE: Reserve a/c on carriers

It is good advice, I didn't pay a rpice, but recently I noticed a number of my CV fighter groups had no fatigue, even though they were in heavy fighting. When I checked, with reserves I had overfilled the capacity.

That was 3 x 40 fighter groups out of my CAP!
