RE: questions on matrix edition of PacWar

<t> Heck, if you want the Allies to win early simply pack up the 25th Div. and attack Tokyo directly. It is normally left empty or barely defended. I've one in Jan. doing this. Or hit Nagoya and destroy the entire merchant fleet. The same holds true for the Japanese. Send a fast amphib group into LA ...

How good is WITP

I know this sounds like a silly question to post, but I'm curious. There are so many posts here concerning bugs that I'm hesitant to buy the game. I am a huge Pacwar fan, but am looking to try something new and I don't want to waste my money.

RE: Grumman sells out to Brewster Aircraft

The Buffalo is a fine airplane. Hell, I would delay production of the Corsair and Hellcat to keep the Buff in fleet service.

nice looking graphics on the game. The last NATO/Warsaw Pact game I played was called Kampfgruppe I believe. It was actually pretty good.

RE: Nukes

This sounds odd, but set the air group to night attack. I have had that spur an A-Bomb strike, not sure why.

RE: Pacific Wargamer Fades Away

That is terrible news. I conversed with Byron on the old PacWar Forum years ago.

Yeah, who needs a game that actually requires the player to no something about history. Better to stick with Donkey Kong or one of those flash brain dead first person shooter games.

"The Big E" by Commander Edward P. Staffard. All about the USS Enterprise. Very detailed about the ship and its various air groups and since she has 20 battle stars for WWII service the book covers almost every major battle.

Patch

<t>I'm guessing it is impossible for Matrix to come up with a downloadable patch to fix this problems. You have patches to fix all other types of problems, why not this one?<br/>
<br/>
I run Win XP Pro and as far as I can see I'm making the changes correctly, but it still does not work. It is very ...

During the war is it was a very common practice for capital ships to fuel destroyers, as can be in done in Pacwar.

Kampfgruppe and Warship. Warship was a true favorite since it had the easiet ship editor I've ever seen. Nothing was better than replacing all the 5-inch batteries on the Iowa with Long Lance torpedoes!! Or putting 16-inch guns on a Mahan class destroyer. Those were the days.

<t>True, but US Army tac bombers did very well against shipping. For instance the Battle of the Bismark Sea. <br/>
<br/>
Where the system falls apart is when a tac bomber unit's base is under amphibious attack and it simply sits on the runway doing nothing. In real life they would have been thrown ...

Naval Interdiction settings

<t>Just wondering what the original logic was behind requiring some bomber groups needing to be set to NI to hit naval units?<br/>
<br/>
In reality this was a moot point, all land units could handle the maritime strike role, albeit not all successfully due to the inherent difficulty of hitting a ...

other oddities

<t>In playing two PBEM games I've had two UK divisions pop up in Saigon about half way through 1942. They were subsequently destroyed. Have also seen the Philipinos pop up in NY City and have had a hard time creating airfields on some islands, namely Eniwetok and Rossel. Each has a ton of supplies ...

fighter losses

<t>Japanese fighter losses are a huge problem. My suggestion is to pick two types, one naval and one army and set all your fighter factories to produce just them and do it early in the game. <br/>
<br/>
This boosts the available pools early on when losses are low. The first planes I choose are the ...

<r>Haven't been on the board in quite some time, but would be interested in a PBEM game. <br/>

I'll play either side, but prefer the US. I play from my office so can do a few turns a day. Contact me here or my work address below.<br/>

Installation Help needed

I'm a long-time Pacific War/War In Russia player trying to get SP to run on my PC. I downloaded the 5.01 complete game from the Games Domain site, took an hour on my T1 line, but it will not run. I get a message that certain components can't be found.

Any help out there.....

I haven't seen this posted yet, but the 18th FG appears on Guadalcanal at the start of the game. Also, Guadal has a 4-size airfield as of Dec. 21.
