Had it change one F4F-4 Squadron from 36 active to 24 active and 12 reserves when it was at a land base as well. I put it back on the CV and it went back to 36 active then transferred it back to land base just to see and it dropped back to 24/12, not that big a deal.

Ghost partial squadrons on CV's returning from Pearl

<t>Hi everyone,<br/>
Sent CV's to Pearl after basing their air components at Noumea, they returned with several partial squadrons (1/VF42 etc...) with an A-20 Boston plane icon. Tried several things to get rid of them, like basing them all on the CVE Long Island and sending that back to Pearl but ...

Haven't had any problems transporting Air Groups and recently transferred a squadron of SBD-3's (VMSB with 16 max size) onboard with no problems so far. Since Long Island has capacity of 16 those VMSB Dauntless squadrons are perfect for it.

Would be great if you asked. Would also be easy to check if someone had a copy of the original ADG release of the game. Thanks! :)

Battle Chart Question

<r>This one's been bothering me since I started playing EIA back in '88 but not enough to have ever bothered to write Avalon Hill about it while they were still around.<br/>
Assault vs. Outflank and Outflank vs. Counterattack are mirror images for the Combat Resolution Chart tables. Yet the same ...

I've used the Long Island to transfer squadrons of P-39's and never had a problem flying them off when they were in range of New Caledonia.

Twice with the TF that is still active, the other two I combined into one and they made it back to Noumea without switching. If it does it again this turn I will create a new TF and transfer the CV and its escort to it to see if it does it again.

Air Combat TF's switching to react to enemy on their own.

<r>Over the last 4 turns of a PBEM game of Scenario 17 I have had several Air Combat TF's that were set to retire end up reacting towards the enemy even though they were no longer capable of flight operations due to sys/flt damage over 50 and have the toggle set at react when my next turn started ...

You should be able to make Port Moresby and disband the Task Force there. Wait until the flotation damage is repaired then send it back to Noumea and then onto Pearl. Hopefully you won't get hit by Betty's and Nell's from Rabaul on the way.

Pretty sure that this means the task force has run out of fuel. Seen it about half a dozen times now in Oct. '42 in scenario 19 playing as Allies, all referred to Japanese task forces.
