I find that the computer steals cargo ships from those groups and seems to put them in the pool. Sometimes it is just 2 or 3 ships from a group in one turn, but sometimes it is 15 or 20 out of 25 in one turn. <br/>

The CAP is derived from their future fighter compliment. You probably noticed and wondered where A6M5 fighters pop in from in 1941 or 1942.<br/>

Friendly Fire

<r><E></E> Strangely enough, I just had the same thing happen to me, also. FM2 Wildcats were flying cover for Japanese TF's off Guadalcanal. The air groups that had FM2 Wildcats were the CVE's Chenango and Suwannee. They formed up with the Japanese planes defending the TF's. Fortunately, only 4 ...

:D I attached a file called "PWHints" that has been posted previously. It is a bit outdated for some subjects (due to updates produced by Matrix Games)- but the basics mechanics and strategy are still applicable.

<t>From my experience, setting your VB’s and VT’s to NI still doesn’t necessarily solve the problem of attacking enemy TF’s. I believe that I read that setting carrier planes to NI is redundant for attacking TF’s, since VB’s and VT’s will attack ships without being set to “NI”. (See the responses to ...

The reference to supplying by submarine was in PWhints; however, the original PW manual indicates that subs do have a cargo capacity. I-176 & RO classes have a capacity of "2" and the I-400 class has a capacity of "5" while all the US subs have a capacity of "2".

<r><E>:D</E> Does patrol A/C get involved in air-to-air combat? It appears the only these aircraft are destroyed is on the ground by air or naval bombardment or if their base is captured.<br/>

Thanks, GET TRANSPT!

This explains much. I was wondering why the "Rufe" appearance seemed random- I didn't catch that an AV TF needed to be under the Combined Fleet.

Also, thanks for restoring the faith that a Jake can kill a sub!!:D

Problems while Replenishing CV TF's

<t>Has anybody else observed problems when trying to replenish CV TF’s- i.e. fuel is not transferred from the replenishment ships (TK’s and AO’s)? Instead, fuel is replenished from the larger ships of CV TF to the DD’s. A good example of this problem is in the Campaign 41. When the Japanese CV TF-1 ...

:p For whatever it's worth, I agree, the British should have some shipyard capacity. In game terms, there is no way to send ships in the Indian Ocean to Britain or other ports for repairs (except if the ship gets recalled.)
