Jap ML now sweep mines!

<t>I upgraded to v. 1.2.<br/>
<br/>
When I send ML to lay mines in a hex with a few sub laid mines, they sweep them! When I send ML to a mine free hex, they lay none.<br/>
<br/>
I base them on Truk. <br/>
<br/>
The "will lay mines in hex" text no longer appears. Instead, "TF XX will conduct mine ...

wow yourself

<t>It appears you do not grasp the meaning of English language constructions. It never occurs to you that I might actually be making relatively objective statements. In this brief forum I have greatly simplified and understated the case. But go ahead - assume you are right: teach me a lesson. Give ...

The IJN has the best warships...

<t>In 1942 Japan has the best warships in the world. Giving the player virtually all of them, and more than ever entered the South Pacific, while not allowing the Allies either comparable forces nor enough merchant shipping, is an awful handicap. In the hands of a good player, Japan must win the ...

AI to easy.

<t>Actually, the AI is too aggressive, and predictable, and so easy to beat.<br/>
<br/>
I am a long term student of the IJN and a sailor of the Pacific. I don't need the databases - I have memorized the details of the planes and ships involved. I seek opponants for email campaign games - either side ...

Long Scenario as Allies

<t>I have reached the point the AI is not a challenge. I have long done research on the IJN, but in these scenarios, the computer gives too much to the IJN, making the game from the Japanese point of view too easy. So I have developed an "ideal" Allied strategy. I have no one to test it on, and the ...

<t>I am now a gamer. I USED to be a real gator (amphib sailor). Before that I "qualified in submarines." I am TRYING to say something:<br/>
<br/>
1) NO sub captain would target a landing craft with a torpedo.<br/>
<br/>
a) Because the chance a torpedo can hit a craft with less than one meter draft ...

you missed my meaning

Well, it would be WONDERFUL if transports could carry aircraft, BUT that was NOT my meaning!

I mean CARRIERS can be TRANSPORTS! Esp. for aircraft.
But also for troops. Esp. motorized troops.

This is moderately important.

<t>The main issue is that a torpedo was ever directed at a shallow draft craft.<br/>
<br/>
The second issue is that a torpedo could hit a shallow draft vessel.<br/>
<br/>
The third issue is that two torpedoes could hit a craft that, had one hit, would no longer exist<br/>
<br/>
The fourth issue ...

transfer to ship

<t>Transfer to ship does NOT produce Long Island as an option for a non carrier aircraft. <br/>
<br/>
In fact - bug - it does not even appear for carrier aircraft ON another carrier - ONLY for carrier aircraft at a land base.<br/>
<br/>
Why just Long Island? Why not be able to transfer and transport ...

nature of game

We have a PBM game going. This session was at the club, and we both watched the animation at the start of a Player 1 turn. It was clear. Two torpedo hits were reported, along with "Heavy Damage" - the boat sank a while later, not at once.

Carriers as transports

<t>I am unable to figure out how to use CVE Long Island to transport aircraft? Or vehicles and troops for that matter. ANY carrier is an outstanding platform to deliver land type planes, and oversize planes, to a port. And it also can deliver units, esp. motorized ones, very well. But this does not ...

scenario hands after one year

<t>My first campaign went well until I tried an unorganized invasion of northern Australia. I got hurt badly, by an enemy without a navy to speak of. But I did take Cooktown. On the turn it falls, the game hangs, every time I run it. I can load and try any orders I like, but the game just starts to ...

Design error

<t>Scot McConnachie of Metro Seattle Gamers and I witnessed what must be a design error. An LCM (classified AG in the game) was engaged by an S boat with torpedoes. Worse, two torpedoes hit the LCM, which was NOT sunk immediately!<br/>
<br/>
Problem 1: a torpedo cannot normally hit an LCM. The draft ...

can a scenario crash?

<t>After playing from May through January 7, my game crashes on January 8, every time I load and run it! It allows me to take Cooktown, and hangs, playing music, but otherwise locking up the computer. I normally have keyboard access to other programs as I have a special IBM keyboard - but this is ...

details of ASW fight

<t>The battle was a standard sub vs surface ship battle. But during the battle the sub was shown as sunk and at the end "Ltjg Kono" [I don't remember the name so I picked a Japanese surname] "has been credited with a submarine kill." Actually, the wording was slightly different - but that is the ...

Useless air squadron in scenario!

In the battle of the eastern solomans, Austrailia is out of the picture. This is a historical lie, as Mac Arthur's air patrols had significant roles.

More frustratingly, there IS one C-47 squadron at Brisbane. It refuses to transfer, so it cannot be used. Why is that?

Air ASW Works!

<t>I have seen it written in this forum, and heard from other members of Metro Seattle Gamers, that they have never seen air ASW work. But it does work. Not only that, but the game credits the pilot individually! Recommendation: if you want Air ASW to work well, be sure to patrol at low altitude! In ...

Good news for Lexington

<t>If you had read the early part of this thread with understanding, you would know how to send Lex back to Pearl. Just go to the port (Noumea or Brisbane) and disband her task force. he is right

<t>Yes, ships can get worse, esp. in bad weather, or if the watch is inattentive to sprung seam flooding. Damage control is not entirely a science, and a ship has hundreds or even thousands of spaces you cannot even get into. In a yard, you cut your way in. It is dangerous to weld in those places ...
