...done with it (again and for real)...

<t>...done with this game and will erase it from the computers it was installed on...way too buggy, too wierd, too sloppy and having far too many quirks. moreover i am not happy because this game remains tempting/seducing due to its outstanding promise...that it fails to deliver on. it still reminds ...

...thanks, Capitaine...

<t>thanks for the public response to a public question...i'm sure you realize that it wasn't *I* who hinted at perfection. now i'm finding suggestions of cheating made by the game (buildup of unoccupied airfields and the like), i'm beginning to wonder if this is some rehash of an old victory games ...

...comment on Capitaine's remark...

<t>...do i take it that you, as others, are not going to buy these new products based upon the quality of this product (uv)? i've seen other posts along the same lines as yours...seems like the same foundation problems, qc/qa (or lack thereof) and other issues are, in fact, carried forward. just ...

...speaking of those seagulls...

<t>does anybody strip them off the ships and concentrate them elsewhere? naval primary, land secondary in port morbid or later in lae...they do a great job for me (vs. the ai anyway). for what it is worth, i understand that part of the problem the japanese had at midway is that the carrier aircraft ...

it is supply and demand

<t>this game keeps its followers/players because there really isn't another replacement...in the economy of game playing, there is a balance of persistant playtime on the positive side and just plan "putting up" with with the negatives (be they a bore, really wierd crap...like uv has...or just being ...

thanks...and curse you mogami...

<t>as i have observed with your posts, mogami, they are always helpful and appropriate. curse you though...now i've "just gotta" load the game again, patch it (kept the patches on disk though) and remember this tidbit about what you see as loaded isn't really what is loaded. glad i got your post ...

...hoi/uv comparisons...

<t>...hmmm...maybe...hoi really had some terrible fresh-from-the-box "features"...like the idiotic pointer/slider issues hoi had. they fixed that eventually...unlike the issues that are (in how long?) still flakey in uv. my point of of comparison may be lost...both are promising games that game me ...

done with it!

<t>well, uv has been interesting and entertaining most of the time. the "last straw" was finding 14th Aus. troops suddenly loaded on board my cruisers in nomea. way too many wierd and unacceptable (for me) things in this otherwise promising effort. hope everybody continues to enjoy it...i'm done ...

sequence of patches?

what are the sequence of patches...i did the 2.0 cumulative then the 2.3...i gather that was not quite right...one should put all of the intermediate (2.1, 2.2, etc.) patches in before 2.3/whatever?

regarding "carrier" bombardment

<t>well, maybe they can...since i've seen this game give aussie fighter-bomber aircraft pilots credit for a sub engagement, transported japanese troops on allied aircraft, seen medium bombers on a carrier (described, if i recall correctly, as a fighter), totally ignore attacking a fair size invasion ...

thanks for the comments/ideas/suggestions...some clarifications...

<t>just to clarify...(1) the task force commanders [more that one in the same hex mutltiple times] had great big balls, (2) the ijn was composed of lots of surface ships including carriers, (3) odd that the "bombard" [why open water?] worked, (4) if the hexes are some 30-odd whatever miles then the ...

<t>well some other things have been so crazy as to almost be entertaining...my "last try" game (in progress) had a zero/nill/null air unit loaded on the lex...pictured as a bomber and described as a fighter...it got mutated from a torpedo unit i was tranferring...sheesh. it would seem...and i'm only ...

thanks to most of you.

<t>guys...well, it seems that this may be "just the way it is" as far as this game goes...thanks especially for the offer to analyze data. (didn't save any files, i just quit while giving a middle-finger salute.) guess i'll try "one more time" to see if this (mostly) enjoyable game balances out as ...

surface engagement

<t>so why does/did my allied surface tf(s) not engage...sat in the same hex with the enemy (retire/no retire, react/no react)...the only way i got them to even get a shot off was to bombard! did it several turns...day and night...in the open, non-shallow ocean...ijn tf spotted...all that jazz. (why ...
