RE: Automatic Air Attacks

ahh yes you are right. I uninstalled TOAW 4 in the non-default folder on my E: drive (that seems to have been the problem), then reinstalled in the default C: folder. Now the Air Assistant stays in "Off." Thanks Meyer1!

RE: Automatic Air Attacks

That hasn't been working for me. I turn it off, and every time i reload TOAW 4 the Air Assistant is back on! It also asks me everytime if I want English as my language. This is driving me crazy. How can you fix? thanks! (or can you please fix guys?)

RE: Unrealistic turn of events - assistance required

<r> If the US CV's are in defensive only, fighter only mode, then get some surface BB Task Forces together and pummel him. No bombers, so he can't sink them from the air? Just in case though get some LR CAP squadrons to protect your TF's. Also, its way too early for him to attack Hokkaido. If he ...

RE: RTA used in Burma to pay or not pay PPs?

Allowed- its not a game changer no matter what. Also makes sense if Japan was "winning" that they would want a share of the spoils gained by adventuring over the border.

Its late 1944 and I'm the Japanese in a PBEM game. Almost 95% of my subs are gone, if it makes you feel any better playing as the Allies. You will get them eventually!!

RE: Conversion Guide Bombardment Distance (and other questions)

<r> On shore bombardments, check your ships AA gun range. If you have ships with 4k range for AA, and you do the bombardment at 3k, you'll use up your AA rounds and then your ship could be defenseless against air attack. Also, a closer range could put you into the CD shore gun target zone. <br ...

Its still mind blowing crazy funny to read posts talking about which West Coast bases to attack! Never before seen it in all my years of playing WWII games. Keep it up!

RE: Veteran Player needs some advice - No Hooper!

<t> Great discussion. A few points:<br/>
<br/>
1. I would also say be careful with your CV's and BB's. I'm in a game where the Allied player was very aggressive with his BB's and lost quite a few. That's less bombardment power for the Marines landings late game, and the casualty rates are higher ...

i think they still train, but might be safer to have them at a land airbase like Pearl Harbor training-- lest you forget and leave them on training when they should be CAP protecting your carrier !

Those landings on the Honshu islands south of Tokyo, can you obliterate those airfields and ports? Doesn't seem like much the Americans can do with that real estate? Or am i way off there?

Don't forget another important point, that 5 out of 15 may drop to 5 out of 12 if your airfield is damaged by an enemy bombing raid. An Airfield of 5 will drop in effectiveness to 4 if damaged...

RE: Best way to kill seaplanes/auxiliary on remote islands?

<t> I'm doing this nasty trick right now as the Japanese, stocking bypassed islands with float planes for surveillance. The only real way to stop them is to invade and take the island- everything else is a bit of a stopgap. Even with 100% service damage you can keep flying in replacements (if you ...

<r> I agree-- even when you feel like all you do is put out fires as the JFB, every now and then you get a smashing little victory in to throw the Allies off balance. Maybe sink a few CV's on a hit and run or something. Always fun and keeps you going

RE: A Wolf in the Sheep Fold: Scen 30 pickup (Lowpe (J) vs Jocke(A)

<r> This will be a fun AAR to check in on-- Maybe you could provide a little more backstory on how Pearl Harbor and all was taken? That's quite a rare achievement and the Allies are really hamstrung now. How is the Allied morale, does he plan on continuing? Seems like it could be difficult to muster ...

RE: Turnaround? Lowpe (J) vs Tiemanj (A) Stock

<t> I've lost the war in Thailand as well-- just extricating the Japanese army to Vietnam has been a monumental survival effort. I feel like the Japanese player needs to wear a fireman hat by 1944, as most of your job is putting out fires and simply slowing their spread. It would be nice to get a ...
