Re: Hierarchy Module Document

I've fixed hierarchy bug #49. I had assumed attacking units had Unit Status of ATTACKING. But, it turns out, Limited Attack units have Unit Status of SUPPORTING. Go figure. So, now I include a check for units with SUPPORTING Status and there should be no more units retaining Attacking Status after ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Hitting return shows (for about 12 seconds) the movement path created. This gives the player an idea of whether there is any danger with the movement before it is attempted.

(Note that I can't do a screen capture while this is shown, so I have to take a picture of it instead).

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

But now it should work. First, clicking on the unit (Hill's HQ) the movement popup gives the option to move via "Under Orders" movement:

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Here is an example from my Killer Angels 1863 scenario: Hill's HQ (at Chancelorsville) is attempting to move "Under Orders" towards Lee's HQ (north of Ashby's Gap). Hill's HQ only has 4 MPs left so Lee's HQ is far out of range to reach in only one turn. Before the fix, Under Orders Movement wouldn't ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

I've fixed Hierarchy bug #48. Turns out, the issue was that Under Orders Movement didn't work if the path was longer than the unit's remaining movement points. I removed that impediment and it now works fine.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

I fixed Hierarchy bug #46. The error was in how the code read Designer Preferences. Older versions had to omit a portion of the current list of preferences to stay in sync and I bungled that. Now its fixed. Two weeks to fix one bug.

Re: Scenario Supply Question

Thanks for showing that Curtis. It looks like the alpine serve as impassible while the rail line can still deliver supply. If I am off, let me know.

Do you know, then, if transportation even matters when it comes to supply? In my tests is seems not to matter how much transport is involved, the ...

Re: Supply Source in an Exclusion Zone

Does placing a supply source in an exclusion zone still emanate supply and protect it from being entered/eliminated by the opposing Force, or does it prevent the flow of supply?

I believe it depends upon which supply rules you use. Old Supply: The former. New Supply: The ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Here's an example showing an extra large name fitting on the chart:

Note: This name had an additional issue: The end of its name - "Support" - triggered the "Port Attack" attack-type (because of the ending "port"). It's name ended in "Su", and it's attack-type was listed as "P". I added a initial ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

I've fixed hierarchy bug #47. With the expansion of unit and formation names from 16 to 32 characters, the name slot on the Combat Chart no longer had enough space for those larger names.

I fixed it by doubling the space (from 250 to 500) and the names should now easily fit:

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Here's the OOB-Units report for Telumar's test scenario. Note that all units were undeployed at start (thus allowing the issue of doing the subordination with undeployed units). Since I changed that so units have to be placed on map to do subordination, I deployed the units that had the issue.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Since I posted 4.2.0.27, I got a flood of new hierarchy bugs from the testers. I've just fixed Hierarchy bugs #44 & #45. In the Editor, I wasn't clearing the unit detachment flag to OFF when a subordinate unit was added to a superior. I hadn't noticed since, if fresh units are used for everything ...

Re: Troubleshooting problems with running the first time

I downloaded TOAOW IV a while back on Steam, and it worked fine at the time, before I had to uninstall it for drive space until I got a larger HDD. Today I reinstalled it on my Win 10 computer, which is up to date as of today (7 August 2026).

Unfortunately, I cannot get the game to launch. I have ...
