I was in your shoes 3 years ago -- I played&nbsp;EiA in High School (in the 1980's), but hadn't touched it since.&nbsp; As an adult, it is interesting that this is the only wargame from my youth that I even <I><s></s>considered<e></e></I> playing again.<br/>

<t> I LOVE the game, Marshall (and all others responsible for its development).&nbsp; I'm chiefly playing solitaire (where I play all 7 nations), as I find the AI a little weak (to be expected).&nbsp; My wife hates it, calling it "that evil game," because I've spent so much time playing it since its ...

It was a beatiful, but complex system, basically you used the number of your troops to see the damage that you give to the enemy but the battles were usually won on moral, so a much smaller side with higher moral could defeat a much bigger ...

RE: Map error and other thougts about Sweden

<t> Thanks for the reply. Lots of very good food for thought. I agree entirely with your strategy of placing militia in the corps that must forage through the Winter, in order to absorb any bad die rolls, and that this more than compensates for the money that would have to be otherwise spent.<br ...

RE: EIA release

It would be nice, really, really sweet, if EiA could be released to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar (Oct. 21, this year) . . . or, failing that, with Austerlitz a couple months later...

Here's to hoping... Can you make it a reality, Marshall?[:)]

RE: Crown of Glory v. Empire in Arms

<t> I agree entirely, Pippin, that diplomacy is one of the primary "unpredictables" in EiA; but I don't know if I would term that "luck." Luck is something totally out of your control; but diplomacy, at least, is an area where you have some element of control, at least in terms of persuasion (and ...

Welcome, Kraakstorm! All frogs welcome here.

When you say that you are a referee of a "special game 1805-1815," does this mean an EiA game (1805 campaign), or some other Napoleonic game?

<t> Quick question as a follow-up about board appearance: I am having difficulty seeing which cities are fortresses (how many fleches), or how many "spires" they have (i.e. what their size is, garrison capacity, and siege forage values are, etc.). Is this (i.e., my inability to distinguish this ...

RE: February Update

<t> Ah, the good old days of Avalon Hill wargames. The first game I ever owned (at age 12) was Richtofen's War, followed quickly by Luftwaffe. After this "air force phase" I read C. S. Forrester's Hornblower series, and in my later teens moved into a naval fascination -- Midway, Jutland, and my ...

<t> I think if everyone goes to message ID 773980 in the thread labelled "EIA Setup -- 'View Available Counters,'" posted by Greyshaft, we will see that Tactical Maxmimum Ratings are being used by Matrix, although they are slightly modified from the original game. RE: Tactical Maximum Rating

<t> J. P. Falcon -- the set-up thread you quoted above, is that from the Matrix version of EiA, or are you quoting the original (or Avalon Hill) board-game rules? If it's from the Matrix version (which is my suspicion, as 4.4.3.7 in the original rules is about Conditional Peace), then this whole ...
