Re: TRACOM Instructors

I think theoretically high skilled pilots in TRACOM can die in accidents, but the chances are pretty low.

Some people advise using allied TRACOM as a parking area for elite pilots that you then can then later on pull out to create an absolute god tier unit, but IMO I'd rather park them into the ...

Re: Pilot Question

If the DBs have high NavB and NavS, but the TBs only have high NavT (low NavS), would the TBs be able to 'follow' the DBs to the target if the strike is coordinated? As in, do the TBs require NavS if their mission is just Naval Attack and no search orders?

On a carrier with 2 DBs squadrons ...

Re: Land Icons

So why are the same units light green when they are in a non base hex, but dark green if in a base hex?

It's got nothing to do wtih the base or non-base hex, it's purely the strength of the unit(s) in the hex. I'm assuming anything that can affect a units abillity to fight is taken into ...

Re: xAK and AE in WW2

I would also imagine the xAk has their ammo loaded for the most efficient way of transporting it, stacked in an optimal way to cram as many units into any given volume as possible, while the AE's have to unbox all that stuff and have them prepared for transfer to ships that would use them ...

Re: Land Icons

This is a quote on the subject from one the game's lead programmers in 2016.

All nationalities have three shades for ground units ranging from light for small units to dark for the largest units. The gradients are easier to see for some colors than others.

Re: Land Icons

Resurecting an older thread, but this came up on a discord chat. The brightness of the LCU icons on the map seems not to be dependent on size, but rather the assault strength total of all the units in the hex. If the AV value is above at least 200 it seems to be a darker color than hexes with AV ...

Re: LSD's

LSDs have a well deck where the landing craft are parked while loading "dry". The ship then lowers itself, flooding the well deck and sending the landing craft on their way. Much more efficient than craning equipment over the side into a bouncing landing craft. Same for loaded-down troops on a ...

Check to see if they have the same parent HQ? That can sometimes cause problems.

Re: Cannot bring carrier squadrons up to strength

Turn off automatic reinforcements too, that way you can ensure only the squadrons you want to get new airframes get them, and not something else.

Reinforcement delayed means you've used all 12 reinforcements for the week IIRC. You might have 30 AC in the pool, but you can only reinforce by 12 per ...

Re: Armored units against bombardments

I would also recommend a few turns of ground attacks air missions to soften things. DBs and medium bombers are good for that sort of thing, altitude probably safer around 13K, as that will be above where most light and medium AA guns can hit.

IIRC the Bofors reaches about 12K but don't quote ...

Re: Can leader skill ratings change during the game?

You can actually see it when they increase on the Operations report. I notice a fair amount of them gain stats if they are in combat, but I've seen leaders commanding TFs patroling off the west coast also gaining levels.

Re: How do I keep PM Dive Bombers from bombing targets north?

Sweep Lae with your fighters? If your DBs are going to Lae its because there is something valuable up there and hitting transports in port is much easier for your DBs than hitting them in open water where they can dodge. Don't think of it as a bug, think of it as a feature.

Otherwise...

Re: Minesweepers conducting ASW

... Apparently AMcs can be disbanded in port and clear mines in that hex.

This is not correct. I tested minesweeping in Jan 23, AMc have to be in a TF just like a AM or DMS the only difference is AMc sweep their own hex while the big boys will sweep adjacent hexes starting with their own ...
