RE: silly trick to make screenshots and seeing the whole game easier

Interesting. In fact having the front run L-R instead of up-down would be more like playing the old board game.

Hated it when a losing opp would roll the dice across the front line and scatter the divisions.

RE: Newbie AXIS player seeking Soviet player for short scenario.

I'm willing to be your Sov victim for Road to Lengingrad. Never played PBEM so it will be a learning experience.

I am upgraded to version 1.04.45, do not want to go to the new beta yet.

1) amph in an army or two to Rumania. Teach him to take Odessaor lose the south flank.

2) Drive to NW Vyazma, to threaten the rail line to Moscow.

Thenhe has to pull out.

RE: Game Suggestions:

I do like the idea of introducing the possibility of a strategic variable - +/- 10% or 15% on production for a quarter, +/- 1-4 weeks for the entry or withdrawal of a unit, etc.

RE: Your Thoughts On The AI

<t> Similar, but as Russian in Grand Campaign (normal) I took Berlin by August 1942. Yes. Of course I started with 1.03*version and then upgraded to 1.04 after blizzard. That was on Normal. Forts killed Axis in 1941, never got within 50 miles of Kiev, barely got to Pskov. Axis never took Smolensk ...

RE: 1.05 - Emir (Axis) vs Cannonfodder (Soviet) No CF

<t> Nice work cutting rail lines to Leningrad - that helps but is not enough to reduce the city defenses. Now you need to punch thru to Sivirte on Lake Ladoga east to isolate the city, and units will begin to surrender.<br/>

RE: 1.05 - Emir (Axis) vs Cannonfodder (Soviet) No CF

<t> Leningrad - Good going clearing our Pskov by turn 6. The rail line needs to run thru there. Also, recon the straight shot to Leningrad but be sure to make a run around the east side of Lake Ilman. If you can cut the rail lines east of the lake all the way to Sviritsa then Leningrad is isolated ...

Are you having any luck wearing downthe LW air force? not the transports and recon planes - the fighters and bombers. Continuing arifield attacks eventually wear them down.

<t> This is what I did in my first GC as the German against the AI. But I had also killed over 5 mill Russians before the end of mud, so their army was pretty weak until lthe last blizzard month.<br/>

I wonder if 3 small 1:20 attacks by isolated units cause more fatigue on the German units than a single 1:6 attack?

I avoid building ANY fortified szones until they are no longer 16 pts each. What a waste of APs. USe security divns or brigades to keep the Finns out early on.

I played an interesting game vs the AI where I held Odessa and in Ovtober bagan to amph in rifle divns on the coast all the way to just north of Constanta. Eventually took the port. That caused no small amount of disruption!!

<t> I am willing to give up Rostov in the first year to insuee I get a very strong push to take Leningrad and also Moscow. Ity can be done vs the AI even in ver 1.03, but you have to bag a LOT of Russians - we are talking about 4.5 million by November.<br/>

RE: Fort Zones Worthless?

I build them (a) to help garrison a town when a regiment is not quite enough, ad (b) when I want to have a second line behind a first thin one. Gives me a turn to plug a breakthru bythe AI - of course a human player will not be stopped by that.
