Re: MAP SCALE

The Call to Arms map was designed specifically for 18th century topography and population. The amount of work to reflect 200 years of human development would probably be more than creating a new one from scratch. There might be other maps out there better suited to your purpose.

As for the scale ...

Graphic Tile mods

I'm in the process of updating Nation in Conflict. It's been several years since I've worked with modified terrain graphic tiles. My last project didn't use them.

For some reason it's not working the way I remember. I modify the file and copy it to the scenario's Graphic Override folder and it ...

Re: Shattered Empires 1914, Entente vs Central Powers PO

The reason I ask is because Central Powers PO automatic rail repair capacity is increased and you mentioned quite a few broken rail hexes. Also, certain elements of the Russian 1st and 2nd Armies are locked down the first few turns to prevent the human player from taking advantage of weak PO ...

Re: Shattered Empires 1914, Entente vs Central Powers PO

Just checking to make sure you started the scenario with a Central Powers PO selected in the new game dialog. There are Turn 1 events that make certain adjustments for a PO game. If you start the game hotseat, and then switch to PO, it won't play correctly.

Re: TOAW 4 Campaign for South Viet Nam

Casey, in case you haven't found it yet here is a copy of the full briefing for Campaign for South Vietnam. I changed the file suffix to ".txt" so it would load as an attachment. Change it back to ".doc" so it loads correctly in the file viewer.

Shattered Empires 1914

In development for the last 2 years, my latest scenario is ready for release.

Shattered Empires covers WWI start to finish. It deals with the European and Near Eastern theaters at 10k/hex, bi-weekly turns. Units are at the divisional level, grouped into corps sized formations. With lots of units ...

Re: Playtesters needed for WWI scenario

In your scenario are the Central Powers locked into attacking France before Russia? This has always been a source of frustration for me as the whole course of the war hinges on who the Central Powers attack first.

No, they are free to attack who they want. But the scenario follows a historical ...

Trouble with the weather

Having some trouble modeling seasonal weather changes in my current project. In previous scenarios, I would use events to implement a series of cold fronts to bring in winter at the appropriate time, and a series of warm fronts to bring us back into summer. All events would be recycled with a delay ...

Re: Playtesters needed for WWI scenario

Anyway to answer your question, I would but I have twins incoming in about six weeks. I'll get back to you in a year or so.

Congrats in advance. But I fear, with twins, it may be a bit longer than a year before you are getting back to me ;)

As for the scale, the movement bias setting allows ...

Playtesters needed for WWI scenario

My latest project, Shattered Empires, has reached beta testing phase and I'm looking for some playtesters to engage in a PBEM game. PO is not yet enabled (but will be by the time the scenario is released).

It covers all of WWI with 117 2-week turns on a 10km map including Europe, Caucasus, the Near ...

Re: John Lee's 'great war' Entente vs MP9090 as Central Powers

This looks similar to Piero Falotti's Great War scenario. They were good scenarios in their day, but lose a lot in the translation to TOAW 4.

So FWIW, I'm in the process of developing a brand new WW1 scenario from the ground up that will take advantage of TOAW 4's new features. Specifically to your ...

Re: Blockading Ports

As Bob mentioned, the supply engine does not support blockade effects.

You can achieve a partial effect with events and some creative map editing. Naval units stationed at key locations ("blockade stations") can trigger supply level reductions or, more directly, the reduction or elimination of a ...

RE: How to Scale a Scenario Properly?

<t> Normally, you would first decide what scale you want the scenario to be at. Then obtain a map that covers the intended play area. Then use one of the existing utilities to lay a grid of the appropriate size on your map. Finally, you transpose the map to your scenario via the TOAW map editor.<br ...

RE: Problem with guerillas?

<r> Guerilla units are supplied when they first enter. But if they move off that original hex, or if enemy units move adjacent to them, then the regular supply rules start to kick in. They still retain some supply benefits over regular units but it <I><s></s>is<e></e></I> possible to put them ...
