Sub Hunter Group

<t>What about a group centered around a CVE. Maybe 2-3 DD's with 2-4 PC/PG. The jeep carrier could carry TBDs or SBDs on ASW search. You could use this to patrol the area around Noumea. The carrier may even act as a magnet for subs. At the very least you should be able to increase your chances of ...

Really? Why? It does not do that for already built levels does it (or have I missed that?) Even bombing does not set it back a level. Of course bombing makes the percentage damage go up and ...

<t>I think the discounted VP's reflect the probability that fewer crew casualties would have occurred and accounts for some type of preservation of morale since the ship did not directly go down in the face of the enemy.<br/>

There is some historical precedent for the latter case. On January ...

Glub glub glub

<t>I think the rule is that when a ship sinks there is a 50% chance the captain will go down with it. This reflects a coin toss that is conducted by the other officers to determine the captain's fate. "Heads" means they toss him a lifeboat for subsequent court-martial. "Tails" means they tie him to ...

AI Target Selection

<t>AI target selection is a result of the scale of time and command in the game. You are considered the theatre commander and you are able to set the objectives and mission parameters for your TF's. Many tactical choices are left to the TF commander. Secondly, each turn represents 24 hours and in ...

I agree it would rarely result in a CV being taken under fire. I'd like to use my surface groups to greater effect in intercepting other surface groups and transport groups.

Follow that Task Force ! ! !

<t>As a way to make surface action groups a little more menacing, is there some way that when they are set to React to Enemy they could automatically choose a nearby (1-2 hexes) spotted enemy TF and attempt to "follow" it. That is, they will attempt to overtake the TF to be in the same hex with it ...

<t>I have had experience similar to that of Thantis. In attacking Kavieng I had complete air and sea superiority and was able to station a TF of 8 MSW in the base for 4 turns. They were set to Patrol/Do Not Retire. Each turn there were no messages that my sweepers were doing anything productive. So ...

Friendly Game of UV?

<r>I'm looking for a PBEM opponent for some non-AI challenges. I'm a more casual gamer with average skills and I would probably take a little more time than most to complete my turns. My turn around time would probably be one turn every 24-48 hours. I'm new to PBEM and would like to start with one ...

That's easily done - just set your squadron to "Naval Attack" and set the altitude to 0 feet.

CAP Intercepts

<t>Oh yeah - I remember chewing my nails while AS-6 missiles swarmed over my carrier group, or a resupply convoy. Waypoint workaround

<t>You can effectively create a waypoint this way:<br/>
<br/>
1. Set the TF to "retirement allowed"<br/>
<br/>
2. Set the TF's home base to the final destination (must be a base)<br/>
<br/>
3. Set the waypoint location at the TF's current destination<br/>

Now the TF will move to the waypoint ...
