RE: Current Human vs Human 41 campaign games

Even against the AI the TOE of any Axis unit that was not in a city is horrible after the blizzards. I don't see how anyone can think attacks until summer. Me I just look around the battlefield and hit next turn after the blizzards.

RE: In this game, I have to cheat!

<r> If you cheat enough you will win. I replayed several turns in the Grand campaign, multiple reloads, until I was able to capture Leningrad before the mud turns. In the end it really serves no purpose. I am the only one who knows that I won. I also know how I won so I am super crazy for sitting ...

Man the first year is very emotional on both sides. For the soviets its when you're being steam rolled. For the germans it's watching your army evaporate before your eyes.

RE: Joel Billings and Erik Rutins on Flash of Steel (Podcast)

<t> Funny thing to me was that they were confused by the game. These are by their own admission 30 year war gaming geeks and they found the game complicated and confusing. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest that their obtuse comments were a vehicle to start conversation about the ...

Leningrad looks pretty good, but I have to agree with you about Moscow.

RE: Moses(axis) vs. Tophat1812.

You are doing much better than I did in my first game versus the AI. In week 17 I backed off of Moscow and dug in for the winter. I just had gotten there too late. The Soviet Army just grows too fast. Good going.

RE: Finns can attack across the line

What actually triggered their ability to attack? Was it because I conquered Leningrad or because I went one hex beyond and linked up with them?

Finns can attack across the line

I had no idea that this would happen. When I linked up with the Finns in the Grand Campaign and brought them below the no attack line, they were able to attack. They couldn't do it until I linked up with them. What a massive turn in the campaign this turned out to be.

RE: Which message level do you prefer?

It doesn't really matter much to me except for one thing, when the AI takes his turn I want the messages to stay on the screen for 0 seconds. That makes for a good 3 minute AI turn.

RE: Moses(axis) vs. Tophat1812.

Nice AAR. As for the Soviet units: the longer it takes to reach Moscow the more troops you will face. In my games Moscow is empty on turn 10, but by the time the Mud comes the place is no longer even take able.

<t> It has been a long time since I read about the War. I vaguely remember there was a horrible Blizzard at the beginning of December, which I remember as being described as the worst in years, and Mud in mid October onward, until the freezes and snowstorms. <br/>

RE: German vs. AI take two

<t> In the real world, the way was clear to Moscow in August of 1941, but Hitler saw an opportunity to pocket a massive amount of Soviet troops in the south. I believe that this was a success and 300,000 troops were captured, however, by the time the Tanks were once again rolling towards Moscow the ...

RE: Moses(axis) vs. Tophat1812.

<r> I don't want to clutter up someone elses AAR with screen shots, but I thought I would drop in my own campaign shot to illustrate a point. This is me straight out of the tutorial into a full blown campaign on normal. by comparison I think Moses is doing great against a human.<br/>

RE: So what advantages does the AI enjoy?

I had noticed that. When I mass a large force to stage a breakthrough the AI "seems" to always deploy an equally large force in my path. I had not noticed that it was deploying against my armor units.

RE: German SEC Units

<t> Army group center and army group south are already stretched thin on command points (Seen in the commanders report). That is also a good reason to attach the security divisions to OKH. In addition, whenever it is possible I break the security divisions down to Brigades (B Key) and spread them ...
