Re: Parachute able devices

Ok, let's without light mortars.
Gen.Aviation Support (load cost 8) - means this device have 8 men
Hotchkiss LMG Team (load cost 2) - means 2 men
Flamethrower Team (load cost 3) - 3 men

All of them are squad-type devices which contain men (their loadcost is defined by the number of men included ...

Re: Parachute able devices

No, that's wrong. Only squad-type devices have personnel (include personnel as part of the device). At least in WIS.

I have no idea on what information your assumptions are based????????

Using your example: 50mm Mortars are artillery-type devices. And while their loadcost includes the weight of ...

Re: Parachute able devices

The term device means both squad devices (devices that contain 'humans') and other devices (artillery, vehicles, tanks, AA guns etc. - devices that don't contain 'humans'/their crews or service personnell) in WIS. Basically the same as in AE but indeed different from War in the East with its ...

Re: Parachute able devices

Currently these devices in WiS give not a clue, they give a confusion.
As I said before, this status means that the "device" got a special training. And devices in the game (like AAMG, LMG, HMG, Aviation Support, light mortars) haven't this special training.

No, this is wrong. The 'status ...

Re: Parachute able devices

It is quite simple.

Parachutable devices (devices with the 'can be airdropped' property) are devices that can be dropped from a (transport) plane. If you add devices to a parachute unit, devices without the 'can be airdropped' property will stay on the ground.

But this is not a thing in WIS anyway.

Re: Quick Questions Thread

I'm still quite new to war games. I am reading a great ARR by RangerJoe, and in it, (s)he mentions "Devices".

But, what is a device? why is that important? when I look at a unit car, the list of "squads", is that what a device is?

thanks :)

Devices are guns, vehicles, tanks, mortars (etc ...

Re: Unit Setup in Editor still shows DIV HQ as ENG instead of INF

Simple database error. Unit was not updated to its TOE after previously wrong TOE data were corrected.

This was supposed to be completely fixed a long time ago (pre release). But seems that someone missed some Div HQ.

Will investigate how many units are affected. But this is mostly annoying and ...

Re: Editor Capabilities & Limitations Questions

[*] Does the editor support changes to the map? i.e., is it possible to make a full new map from scratch of say Greece or somewhere else? Or even does it support changes to the existing map, like removal or additions of railroads?
If that is not possible, are there any plans to introduce that ...

So the answer is 20. Thanks.

...and a container in context of a Divisional TOE is what exactly? The manual only mentions RSVs as being containers.

Containers are now named Combat Groups in the manual. The term 'container' was used for Combat Groups during development. The 20 device slot limit ...

So you can decide wheater to remove the whole Artillery Regiment, a Battalion or just some Batteries?
Yes you can remove the whole Artillery Regiment or just parts of it from a division. And later add it again to the same divsion or to another division.

Re: Ground Combat Questions

As I read it a battle theoretically can take several days inside the same hex going back and forth (winning/losing some of the 5 nautical miles), did I get that right?

Yes, correct.

If you have Artillery which has a range of (let's say) 20 nautical miles as a individual Battery/.../Battalion ...

Re: Where do swapped devices go when upgrading/downgrading devices?

Squad upgrades use (consume) the manpower of the squads that are upgraded for the new upgraded squads.

Not completely sure from Melvi's post if this is here the case, but this would explain why there're no 'old' squads (the squads that were upgraded) in the pool or elsewhere.

Re: Database error(s). All non base hexes default to German

Your screenshots show the LCU list pop-up and not the hex info.

If you click on the Hex Info field (left corner below the map) you'll see who is in control of a hex (of a hex that doesn't contain a base).

I'ld expect that you'll find Republican hexes under Republican control and Nationalist hexes ...

Edit for clarification: I was only referring to this.

Re: Graphic issues

Well, maybe everyone should go back to using a basic generic computer. Maybe something like a Commodore 64 would be to your liking?

If there is a problem with your chip, then it is difficult for the game to get around that unless it is very intrusive. Or do you want to game to turn off certain ...

Re: Unit Picture not displaying

Some pictures were removed before release because the development team was not sure if using them for the game could infringe any IP rights.

Not sure if the picture for the device in question was one of those pictures, but this is the most likely explanation for a missing picture.

The black popup window shows the (artillery) device you clicked on, not the unit.

Re: Infantry devices stats.

Squad upgrade paths follow the historical changes of the composition of land units. At least as far as possible within the requirements of the game. Generally it will be more important to have enough squads of a given type available (in the pool or in reserve units) than to have always the best ...
