I definitely got my $40 worth, and then some. Everything coming down the pike is lagnappe (free goodies-something Matrix is pretty generous with.[:D]

RE: Opinions regarding Historical Detail wanted

<t> It depends on the scenario. I would opt for a variable deployment option for a War in the East (WW2) type scenario. With Case White (Poland), I'd give the Poles a choice of alternate deployment, but not the Germans. For D-Day, no alternate deployment unless the allies can invade elsewhere. Some ...

Tactical Reserves

<t> Recently I was informed that non-artillery unit placed on tactical reserve suffer a severe penalty when the reenforce adjacent units. The penalty is because, since they are moving 1 square to provide reenforcements, they suffer the benalty for being "mobile".<br/>

What is a UAV?&nbsp;&nbsp; Un-armoured vehicle, as we freguently see in Iraq? Or something a bit more combat worthy than a stock Hummer? Id use a [:D], but I really don't know what a UAV is, so I'll go with [&:].

Any more news from the front on this one? I got a buddy who got the board game for Xmas (he snuk a peek)[:-]. I'd love to play, but the board is larger than my living room, so it'll have to be the PC version.[&:]

RE: Ardennes 1944 Feedback

<t> I am in the midst of a heated PBEM game (Dec 30, 1944). The Germans have been held way short of their histroical advance, but at huge cost in blood, supplies and proficiency to the Americans. Also, a few divisions of mine will not stop reorganizing (I'm sure they do that till the Germans advance ...

RE: No Equipment Update? What did I pay $40 for?

<t> Thanks for filling in some of the blanks between my ears[:D]. An EQUIPMENT&nbsp;editor, allowing one to change the attributes abd values of sub-units (e.g. recon ability of a Panzer Mk. III), would be exactly what the doctor ordered. As a true believer in Matrix Games (and the associated ...

RE: paras in ea

<t> I understand the specs Golden listed for Paras in TAOW3. Does this apply to ALL scenarios. Playing EA, I had a lot of trouble with paras during the sitzkreig, but it could have been aircraft availibity/weight. Also, can a designer add additional restrictions to paras? (may only jump once, etc ...

RE: Hearts of iron

<t> As usual, a good bit of worldly wisdom from Ravenhood. I do the same (usually). I also read Forums, reviews, and any thing I can get my hands on. Not that one comment or rewiew hold much water, but the general level of carpin and griping can let you know how popular a game is much better than ...

Stalingrad and The Cacasus

<t> This is a TAOW3 scenario I downloaded from the Wargamer. Has anyone else played it. The "House Rules" are a bit restrictive, but without them, Russia ceases to exist....rapidly.<br/>

<t> The also won't do diddley in the phoney war. Since I do not know what game you are playing, and the date, I can only make general guesses. Paras and gliders do not see to operate under the same constraints. In some scenarios, Paras can only jump once, or on certain turns. I have learned the hard ...

RE: Scenarios with lots of strategic options

I would not leave out Brunswick (download from net). It is the German drive on Stalingrad & The Cacusaus, on monster scale. Also the Great War should fit the bill. I'd still go with Europe Aflame, as it has the most mileage, and is really great.
