Re: [ Distant Worlds 2 Advanced Guide ]

Very nice!

Only 'issue' is in the difficulty comments. lol
Consider home system quality. A Trying or even Harsh start magnifies difficulties.

FREX: a Teekan Harsh start can generate a non-viable start. Your entire Home System is a Gas Giant with 2 moons. Massive resource shortages. The Teekan ...

Re: Does the AI terraform?

Necro of an old thread, but YES, I have seen, rarely, the AI build a terraformer. One particular instance was later game, mid-2800s and they were building a couple +10%. You get the most bang-per-buck building them earlier, but they must be very far down on the priority list.
FYI - I saw this ...

Re: [1.1.3.5] Revolving Revolution

Agreed 100%.
Things like a Technocracy being led by a Luddite - shouldn't be possible.
A Hive Mind shouldn't even possibly have a Famous leader be possible.

I have burned through every single Scientist, General, Admiral, while trying to get a non empire lethal leader. The AI empires might dismiss ...

Re: Scott's Guide to DW2 available to download (version 2.9)

Just a remark about your chart on page 52:

In game (1.0.8.0), all torpedos weapons have a shield bypass of -40%, but the chart says -25% into the torpedos "Dmg. vs Shields" row. AFAIU, this should be -40%, right?

Yes, all Torpedoes, except the final Quantum Shard, have a -40 Shield Bypass. The ...

Sometimes I see that message and can move the blocking tech project down. Or I can move a third project to move the stuck project.

Known issue, but they have said it is low priority. Personally, I think that for some reason the Player is placed last and it is easier to find holes remaining on the rim than at the core.

Re: Bug no silicon

I believe that it is only at Excellent that there is a guarantee of all strategic resources being present.
I have had games at normal with Silicon and Cuprica not present in system. Going to Harsh system and you might not even have Caslon.

You have to wait on the Traders until you can break out. I ...

Re: [1.0.6.4] +20 counts as LOW suitability

Been like this for a while.

Game likes to round things for us - so you're looking at a 19.5..19.99 or something - so not quite a 20. I've seen "good 20" and "bad 20" right next to each other in my colonization lists. It's weird, but it makes some sense...

In most cases, the game rounds up, so ...

Re: [1.0.6.4]-[1.0.3.7] Misleading average exploration

There is still no difference between no more exploration possible using researched tech and more exploration possible using researched tech , both are shown as yellow blobs/numbers.
But when you know that you can explore up to 25% and a yellow 6 is shown you'll assume that there is more to do ...

Re: Weapon damage calculator

just curious as to how the game handles fractional damage.

IE: A missile hits for 34, with a 25% shield bypass. That resolves to 25.5 versus the shields and 8.5 to the armor. Are the 0.5's retained, rounded, or what?

Re: [1.0.5.3] Research: PrerequisiteProjectsMinimumPathCount

As a side question:
How do you manage to pick up the debris?
It can not be automated, or can it?
So I guess you also pick them up by hand, one by one.

And does this debris has a lifetime? When is it gone? Do I have to hurry?

You can do it manually.
However, if you have automation on, the AI ...

Are you saying that when you " find entire techs " you can use them without knowing the prerequisite projects? If that's the general intention I'm fine with it. I too can use tires without having practical knowledge about how to vulcanize rubber ;)

Re: [1.0.5.6] Unable to build a spaceport inside nebula

Despite having the right ion protection and armor on the spaceport design, I am unable to build it inside a gravitic storm, As soon as it gets queued it gets destroyed. I think it sometimes rarely works, like 1 time out of 20.
To reproduce just try to build a spaceport on the colony Ackdara ...

They should not, but they can explore multiple asteroids in an area with one resource scanner, which can allow them to skip some asteroids.

If they do explore multiple Asteroids, the scanned and empty ...
