<t>I disagree re the comment about the Germans being stupid with making heavy tanks. For example the Elephant is generally considered a failure at Kursk by many authors, in actual fact the kill loss ratio was 15 - 1 in favor of the Elephants. There are many instances of single German heavy AFVS ...

It should also be noted that many tankers including Wittman considered the anti-tank gun to be the greater threat, as they ...

Sure, do you remember the old days with previous SP games, you needed a 10 - 1 point advantage to receive a major victory.

SPWAW did nt figure this into the stats

<t>I am currently reading Ambroise Citizen Soldiers and came across an interesting paragraph about a new section of replacements straight from boot camp assigned to a veteran US platoon. A veteran officer instructed a green private to go take an enemy house. The basic US infantry combat training was ...

Mortar Casualities

<t>I know there has been a lot of discussion on the forum re artillery casualities, I am currently reading Citizen Soldiers by Ambroise. He mentions that 75% of US casualities in the Bocage were inflicted by German Mortars (I remember reading casuality % figures before but I cant remember the ...

If you dont pre plan the para drops and gliders in the setup phase the aircraft revert to the vehicle type units you mentioned. Use these units the way they are supposed to be used, in the set up planning stage and they provide a useful and interesting addition dimension to the game

I think you guys are being too critical, SPWAW without doubt is the most realistic and accurate wargame available. The creation team done an excellant job, especially when you consider the game is free. Personally, I have nothing but admiration and thanks to the team.

The only way to force entrenched infantry from their foxholes or rough hexes tends to be heavy firepower or more effectively artilery, let them run out of cover then hit them in the open . Personally I think that infantry are too resistant to AFVs in the game

<t>German armour was (open to argument) the best in WW2. Many U.S. tankers claimed many Tiger kills when they were in fact Mk 4 or other AFVs. Brits also became very reserved about engaging German tanks, one interview I remember concern an R.A.F commander telling Montgomery during the Normandy ...

Heat seaking Nashorn

Has anyone else noticed the range finder of 10 and fire control of 10 for the Nashorn, compare this to the Ferdinand of 5 and 5 or the King Tiger of 8 and 7. Is this a mistake or intentional ? 10 seams a little bit on the high side
