RE: How does it differ from SPWaW?

<r> While it does technically cover similar activity (i.e. tactical-level ground combat), that's about where the similarity ends. <br/>
<br/>
HoS is much more like Avalon Hill's Squad Leader game. Battles will tend to be a bit smaller in scale with HoS than most SPWaW games and there is a more ...

Why not extend sales past the 1st or 15th of the month?

<t> The announcement I saw today was for a sale that ends on the 13th. I would like to make a purchase, but I also went on vacation at the start of the month, so it's just not in the budget right now for me. <br/>
<br/>
Since many people get paid on the 1st, 15th or last day of the month, why not ...

<t> I just upgraded to Win7 on a blank drive. The game seems to work, but I have a problem with my saved PBEM games not wanting to load. <br/>

I'm now getting an error message upon trying to load a save that says “The Users on this system are not authorized to load this game”.<br/>

How to start BOB PBEM Game?

<t> I need some help starting a PBEM game of BOB.<br/>
<br/>
I started the game as the Brits, saved it to slot 2 and sent it to my opponent. He did his bit as the Germans, saved to slot 3 and sent it back to me.<br/>

When I try to load the saved game and select the file in slot 3 I am ...

Command Line Switches

I've looked through the manual and all the readme-type files I could find on the disk and see no mention of the available command line switches in ED/BTR, although I've seen other posts where people have referred to a few. Would it be possible to post a list of them here?

RE: Quick overview of a bases capabilities

<t> Not sure why there seems to have been so much fussing over this. It's a good idea to improve any user interface if it's possible. <br/>
<br/>
While I'd rate what I've seen of the game so far as a 9 or 10 in most areas (or I assume we'll get there with the next couple of patches), user ...

RE: Flying low enough?

I've done a bit of low-level flying when I was much younger. If you you have the "need for speed", that's how you satisfy it!

Doing it through that kind of flak, and holding it together, takes balls of steel.

GREAT pictures!

RE: How to adequately defend the Marshall and Gilbert Islands in 1942

<t> Agreed. With the KB at a Truk homebase it can work in the Coral Sea area and still respond reasonably quickly to any allied attemps on the Gilberts and Marshalls. Add some Bettys and Nells in the Kwajalien area and it's pretty untenable for the allies.<br/>

A manually reloaded canon in an aircraft? There must've been a Cannon Loaders Union rep on the factory floor.

<t> An interesting proposal. I'd like to throw out a couple other thoughts on this...<br/>

Randomly report duds to both sides as either misses or duds and the fog of war will make it difficult to sort out what is going wrong, just as it happened IRL. I'd think the Japanese would be more ...
