<t> Yes please - neat idea. I've always been a fan of the US tinclad battlecruisers of the Lexington class and some of those are great names for ships. <br/>

<t> I agree that the respawning is OK and as currently set up, may in fact reduce the actual numbers of Essex deployed.<br/>

I am mystified by those that argue the US was at or near a shipyard limit. Per my Conway's, the US cancelled two Essex class when it became apparant the war was ...

RE: PT Boats from Hell

Phooey - I just had a 6 boat Dutch squadron fail to seriously hurt an already injured IJN AP. My PT's in the Phillipines and DEI have been harmless including a single IJN DD killing 3 and running off another 3 when hitting a fat convoy.[:@]

RE: Realistic PT Combat

Out of what must be 20+ PT boats actions in a couple of start ups and an ongoing Scenario#15, I've had one mediocre and one good PT boat attack result with the rest essentially disappointing. All were using 6 boat squadrons.

I use the mods and would prefer to see them become part of the "standard" kit.

RE: War Plan Orange mod - question for you guys, the players

<t> You may want to pick up a book called "The Great Pacific War" by Hector Bywater. It is available in paperback from Amazon very cheaply and comes with a complete OOB for both sides to fight out the conflict in the early 30's.<br/>

This would seem to be a perfect companion to the Plan ...

<t> Obviously the Iowa class is the pick of any litter but it is the others that are intriguing. <br/>

South Dakotas are actually a bit worse than their near-sisters the Washingtons since the attempt to compact the design resulted in a less habitable ship. Either these ships are pretty good ...

Fleets of World War Two by Richard Preston - A very opinionated but fascinating look at the fleets by individual ship class and overall. A lot of the cachet some vessels have enjoyed get punctured when the actual designs and performance are examined.

<t> I certainly agree with the ammo conservation theory and while it seems that firing algorithims may overconcentrate on escorting warships, the other issue as to why transport groups survive versus surface warships is that naval gunnery is at best, pretty inaccurate.<br/>
