RE: Attack on Subchaser 39

<t> Is machine-gunning shipwreck survivors a war crime?&nbsp; Yes.&nbsp; No question about it.&nbsp; Would we treat it as such today?&nbsp; It depends on the circumstances.&nbsp; Historically, by the time this photo was taken, in all probability, the United States had obtained copies of the Bataan ...

RE: Mystery Ship #39

I'll take your word for it about the Zuiho.&nbsp; Personally, I thought it looked like the African Queen, on steroids.&nbsp; I looked and looked for Humphrey Bogart, but didn't see him in the photo.&nbsp; At least the African Queen sank something! [:'(]

Well, as a matter of fact, the "Today" part of your post is actually TODAY, not two days ago. Maybe you were judging time from the date the fleet sailed? [:D][:D][:D]

Gateway Sound Card Problem and Fix

<t> I had uploaded to 1.80, had problems (see different thread), reloaded anew to 1.80, and began to experience sound card problems that created aural "stuttering" during combat execution plays, and mouse lock-up during the length of the stuttering. I had erroneously thought this was a game-related ...

RE: Notwithstanding my earlier Angry post

<t> Thanks, I will look for it.<br/>
<br/>
The "sound card" problem doesn't just cause stutter in the audio, it locks up my system so that mouse control is lost. I got to Jan 3, 1942, again, and have decided that the irritation just isn't worth the effort anymore. I will kill the current ...

Notwithstanding my earlier Angry post

<r> I upgraded to 1.80. It could be MY fault that I downloaded the comprehensive 1.80 patch instead of the sequential upgrade, over a bunch of sequentially up-graded upgrades. Despite my anger (see my earlier ANGRY post elsewhere in this particular forum, for which I apologize), I continue to play ...

RE: crash when saving

<t> BECAUSE of this problem, I saved three times per turn. Once on the immediate "post-turn," several times during a "mid-turn," and once the "end-turn." Although I consumed 21 slot per week, it generally worked out well for me (until I upgraded to 1.80). Yes, my system crashes occasionally, but ...

RE: 1.80 Crashing my System

<r> No. I've deleted the whole damned thing. I've reloaded to 1.21. I am now looking for a limited download of 1.60, which WORKED. As you might be able to tell, I'm fed up with replaying the first 6 months of the war. I WANT to get PAST this phase and DO SOMETHING! I am VERY unhappy. <br/>

1.80 Crashing my System

<t> Your new 1.8 crashed my damned game. I'm deleted the WHOLE DAMNED THING. I absolutely FUCKING TIRED of restarting a GOD-DAMNED game to try to capture the latest modifications! Your 1.8 started putting airstrikes on the map, instead of within an action box. I tried using Spooky's overflow ...

RE: US Neutrality

<t> I agree. The US would have entered the war eventually. A reference was made above regarding the US destroyer sunk by a U-boat in the Atlantic. Why was it sunk? Because the United States had decided that it owned the Western half of the Atlantic, and undertook to escort convoys to/from England ...

RE: sunken and respawned ships

<t> According to the books I've read, the re-naming of a sunken CV started out as a military intelligence trick to be used on the Japanese. The Japanese thought they had sunk the Lexington at Coral Sea (as they, in fact, did). The US decided to name a new CV after the Lexington to confuse the ...

RE: Differences between Pac War -v- WiTP?

To Whipple - buy it. I played PacWar forever and loved it. WiTP is much better. My only complaint is the fact that I spend about two hours planning each move. So, I'm still stuck in 1942.

As for Oleg - try blowing "sunshine," it doesn't have thorns.

How else could the Japs find and capture Emelia Earhart? [X(] She was the FIRST of the devilish Yankee Air Pirates to defile the purity of the future Imperial Greater SouthEast Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Sheesh, don't you guys study history?

RE: More Comments from a Newcomer

<t> I agree with everything you said. As a former airborne infantryman, I like (and agree) your comments on working our little digital troops to death. Been there, done that. I, too, give me troops a break when circumstances permit. Ships with 1 or 2 damage go to port until they're perfect - unless ...

RE: Subs everywhere!

<t> I suggest some historical reading might be illuminating here. The IJN attack options for PH were, originally, All SUB attack, and then later a SUB/Air attack. The IJN (like the USN) was a battleship-admiral fleet, and they weren't too sure that the Air-alone attack would work. That is why the ...

RE: Another Stupid Newby Question!!

<t> As far as I can tell, "Production" rate means actual factories you can find some symbol for on the map. If your factories are located somewhere with insufficient oil and resources, the factories won't produce to full capacity. Hence, when playing this game, suck oil and resources out of the DEI ...

I think it's possible that the BB in question (and in the photo) actually agrees with you! Am I the only who noticed that it's presenting the Hawaiian one-barrelled peace sign salute? [:'(]
