<t>Also, the mainr reason for switching to low-level night bombing was to increase bomb damage, not avoid Japanese defenses. While losses were kept relatively small by flying very high, bomb accuracy went to pot. Moving lower solved the accuracy problem, but necessitated the move to night flying to ...

P-40s are Fighter-Bombers, so they would attack the larger ships anyway.

<t>1. Any plane capable of attacking TF's can do so even if not set to NI. Setting a unit to NI simply limits it to attacking TFs (so it won't attack airfields, land units. etc.)<br/>

2. Fighter-bombers are able to attack surface targets (sea and land) and aircraft. Fighters are suited only to ...

Almost none of the sea lanes follow a straight line. The reason for this is because the game is trying to represent a globe on a flat map.

IIRC, going just about anywhere east from Midway will pass you near Hawaii.

<t>Better still, park your CVs in Rangoon by setting the standoff to zero. This way, they won't run out of fuel as long as Rangoon has some available. To better support those LCUs, do the same thing with a bombardment TF. They will keep topped off on fuel and ammo as long as there's supply available ...

Night Fighters

<t>Is there any advantage given to P-61s over "day" aircraft when assigned a night mission (due to their radar)? Or is night fighting ability simply a matter or group experience? If so, should the VMFN groups start with experience higher than average (70)? Since there's no "native" P-61 groups, I ...

<t>The "reinforcing" troops come from supply at the base. It doesn't appear by itself (IIRC, all supply and 1/2 fuel at a base are destroyed when captured) but must be transported there by a TF or routine convoy. That's how the "extra" troops and equipment get there.<br/>
I don't know about the ...

<t>I've also noticed that the B-25's reduced range (5 instead of 6) combined with the fewer number of size 4 airfield locations on the path to the Solomons makes staging them out there a lot more dependent on ships. Before, it was simple to fly them directly from the US to the S. Pacific with only a ...

<t>My grandfather was a B-17 bombardier (in Europe) and told me that most of the time they fired to drive off fighters, not to kill them. Gunners were taught to fire at maximum range to distract and force enemy fighters to break off their attacks early. This is very different gunnery than in a ...
